Tied our record from the class of ’54-55, which I never thought
would be even equaled! Congratulations to the Sig Eps at Tennessee Alpha!
I was one of 60 in Fall 1985, and I’m not even sure that’s the largest one. Clearly, the actives borrowed the Pike Bid Machine the year I pledged. Our Pledge Master John Stinson managed to get nearly all of us initiated and two years later, TN Alpha’s 2nd Buc Cup + every single other award.
Of course, the secret then and now: more alumni involvement than any other chapter anywhere, and money than God.
Whatever y’all were doing in the mid-to-late 50s worked, since most of the alumni leadership in the mid 80s and 90s were from the 50s and 60s: the brothers Rainwater and Clayton, Pennington, Qualls, just to name a few.
